When you are the manager of one of the most sought-after clubs in the world, fans are very interested to know about your private life. If you are one of them, then keep reading on! Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer is the current manager of Manchester United and a former Norwegian footballer, and Silje Solskjær is his wife.
Who is She?
That is a valid question because Silje Solskjær loves her privacy and stays away from the limelight. What we do know is that she is of Norwegian nationality and has a brother named Ole Lyngvaer, who also played football and scored twice in the 1990 Norwegian Cup semifinal. She is a former football player, just like her husband, and enjoys the sport thoroughly! It explains just how the couple has managed to build a long-lasting marriage in a world where there are many breakups.
How Did the Journey Start?
It was football only that brought the duo together as they connected over practice sessions. Their lives first crossed paths back in 1992, when they both were playing for Clausenengen Football Club. Training sessions were hard, and the budding romance between the two made things a little bit easier to deal with. During an interview, Ole divulged that there a training group, especially for the children, and it would start early in the morning. Even though Ole had no business being there as he was too old, he still liked to visit just to peek Silje. The player was falling in love fast, but the pace of their relationship took a hit when he joined military services. Unfortunately for both of them, Silje seemed to have moved on during that time.
Thankfully, cupid struck again soon. There may have been a few bumps in the road when they started dating in 1992, but they worked through the issues and finally walked down the aisle in 2004. The newlywed couple went on a luxurious honeymoon in the Caribbean and were photographed by the pool and the beach. The more time they spent together, the more Silje realized that her husband was a kind and thoughtful soul. She revealed that he was the best decision of her life!
The smart couple have three children named, Noah Solskjær, Elijah Solskjær, Karna Solskjær. The duo was often spotted together at games, and Silje was always there to cheer him on! However, a severe knee injury forced him to retire permanently from a game he so dearly loved. It was his wife’s kind words and undying support that never let his spirits get down.
Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer has had a spectacular run in life as landing a job as the manager of Manchester United would not have been easy, but we bet that having a wife as supportive as Silje has its perks. It is reported that her constant motivation is a driving force behind the athlete, even though when the job meant that they will have to spend a considerable time apart. This is the reason why she is always spotted around while her husband is fulfilling his official duties.
Ole never fails to show love for his wife. He always appreciates how great of a mother Silje is and how pivotal she was in shaping his career. Even though the ex-athlete had to travel all around the world for his dynamic job, she never complains. In 2019, the family of five had moved to a new home in Nether Alderley, a lush Cheshire parish between Macclesfield and Alderley Edge.
The Public Eye
The couple and their kids are great friends with David and Victoria Beckham and their family. Victoria and Silje have been close since 1996 when they would sit on the stands to cheer for their superstar husbands. The families also jointly have a real estate business empire worth £5 million. It is interesting to know that Silje is an avid shopper and is often spotted around the most popular shopping spots in Manchester, including St. Ann’s Square.
Ole and Silje jointly own a Cheshire mansion that is estimated to be around £4 million. They also have a lavish property in their homeland, Kristiansund, and it is a sea-facing property with a swimming pool. Valued at £1 million, it has a large signboard displaying “20 Legend,” which was Ole’s jersey number.
