Bio
Born in Vernon, Normandy, France, his journey into football came at an early age, first at ALM Évreux, followed by Évreux FC before committing to Stade Rennes in 2010. After progressing through the youth ranks and starring for the reserve team, the forward made his professional debut for Rennes' first-team on November 6th 2015 against Angers. On 22 November, he scored his first goal, opening the scoreline in a 2-2 draw against Bordeaux. On 6 March, he scored his first hat-trick in a 4-1 victory over Nantes in the Derby Breton. On 12 May 2016, the Frenchman signed a five-year contract with German club Borussia Dortmund, debuting in a 2-0 defeat at the hands of arch rivals Bayern Munich in the DFL-Supercup. The French winger was instrumental in BVB's 2016/17 DFB Pokal success: his assist for Aubameyang's goal knocked out Bayern Munich in the semi-final; and scored the first goal in a 2-1 victory as BVB overcame Eintracht Frankfurt in the final, subsequently earning man-of-the-match. He was awarded "Rookie of the Season" and included in "Bundesliga Team of the Season" at the end of the season. On August 2017, FC Barcelona acquired the Frenchman's mercurial talents for a fee of €145 million, with his buyout clause set at €400 million. He made his debut on September 9th in a 5-0 drubbing of local rivals Espanyol. After persistent injury layoff the Frenchman returned to score his first goal for the Blaugrana in a 3-0 win over Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League. He completed a difficult yet successful first season as Barcelona were crowned La Liga and Copa del Rey champions. On 12 August 2018, he scored the winning goal as Barça triumphed 2-1 over Sevilla to win their 13th Supercopa de España. The Frenchman was a member of the 23-man French squad that lifted the FIFA World Cup in Russia in 2018.
