Born in Canning Town, East London, The Englishman started with Arsenal's academy at the age of 11, however, due to the distance from his family home to training it became impossible for him to make ends meet, so when local side West Ham United showed interest the Englishman signed for them instead, and thus began the long standing love affair. He made his debut with the reserve team at the age of 15, followed by his debut for the first team a couple of years later at 17. He made his Championship debut the following year helping West Ham United gain promotion to the Premier League after winning the playoffs against Preston North End, he would end the year by being awarded 'Young Hammer of the Year' award. He has played for West Ham United for the majority of his career spanning the better part of 15 years. He's made over 450 appearances for West Ham United being involved in over 100 goals, scoring 54 times and having a hand in 51 assist. The Englishman made his 300th appearance in Claret and Blue in December 2017 making him the record holder for playing the most Premier League games for any West Ham United player. In his 10th season at the club he was given the captain's armband. He was awarded 'Hammer of the Year' twice, the first in 2011-12 when West Ham United won promotion back to the Premier League having been relegated the year before, and a second time in the 2013-14 season.
