Born in Birmingham, England, he joined childhood club Aston Villa’s youth academy aged six in 1995; after impressing with every age group, he was called up to the first-team while still in his early teens. To aid the youngsters development, he was loaned out to EFL One club Notts County on September 2013; the aim was for him to get opportunities of playing competitive football on a regular basis, and gain experience that comes with first-team football. He made his debut on 14 September 2013 in a 3-1 loss to MK Dons. On 7 December, he scored his first professional goal, weaving past three opposition players to hit home the third of a 3-1 win over Gillingham.
