Player Bio

Born in Poole, England in November 2001, Tino joined North London club Chelsea’s youth academy at under-7 level. The midfielder would go on to become part of the clubs highly successful youth generation, and would cap off his fantastic journey at youth level with a goal against Arsenal in the 2017/18 FA Youth Cup, helping The Blues secure the trophy. Described as a strong, powerful, box-to-box midfielder, Tino is indeed a towering presence, yet despite his imposing size and stature, remains a fleet footed player. The youngster has drawn comparisons to past greats, particularly Yaya Toure of Manchester City and Patrick Viera of Arsenal, for his ability to traverse the pitch with big strides, and his effectiveness at both defensive and offensive plays. On 25 September 2019, he made his debut for Chelsea’s senior squad at the age of eighteen in the EFL Cup, a fixture which saw The Blues rout Grimsby Town 7-0. Tino was handed his Premier League debut six months later, coming on as a substitute in a 4-0 win over Everton. These remain his only appearances for Chelsea to date, but much is expected of the teenager in the coming years. On the international level he has represented England in under-17, under-18 and under-19 levels. Tino is also eligible to play for Nigeria through his mother’s side.
