Born in Montivilliers, France, on March 1st, 1992, to parents of African decent he lined up with the youth system at Le Havre AC at thirteen years of age. Unable to break in to the first team he took a step down to the Championnat National with AS Cherbourg. His performances caught the eye of scouts from Ligue 1 club Olympique de Marseille, and the club signed the goalie to their ranks in the summer of 2014, however, it was again the same old story for the big man as he failed to impress the coaches, and after a handful of appearances for Marseille B, was sold to Stade Reims just a couple of year later. After a slow start at the Stade Auguste-Delaune, the keeper came into his own in his second season at the club, keeping 18 clean sheets in 34 appearances, to help Reims secure promotion to Ligue 1. A similar display in the following season in France’s top division saw his stock rise and before long a host of clubs were after his signature. In the summer of 2019 he joined Rennes, and helped club qualify for the UEFA Champions League as they finished third in the division with the least number of goals conceded by any team, thanks in big parts to the brilliance of the mammoth 6’6 Senegalese keeper. His world class displays earned him a moved to English Premier League powerhouse Chelsea, who paid a fee of £22 million for they 28 year old's signature. The goalie made his Premier League debut on September 29th, 2020, keeping a clean sheet in a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace.
