He and his family then moved back to Karlovac in Croatia, only 50 miles away of Zagreb. He seemed to be a talented footballer and joined the local professional club's youth academy of Dinamo Zagreb. After four years in Zagreb, of which two seasons on loan at Inter Zapresic, he moved to Olympique Lyon for a fee of 8 Million Euro. He stayed three-and-a-half seasons in Lyon and won the Coupe de France in 2012. He played some great matches and showed his amazing potential. It was clear that he was ready for the next step. And so he did! In the winter of 2013 he signed in England at Southampton. He once stated in an interview that it always always has been his dream to play in the Premier League.
