Born on December 15th, 1992, in Caxias do Sui, Brazil, his early footballing education in rooted in the fabled streets of his native land. As a teenager he joined the youth academy of Esporte Club Juventude, and in 2011 it was with Juventude that Lexi started his professional career in Série D. Lexi’s fortunes would change fast as his outstanding talent caught the eye of Brazilian Série A club Grêmio. In an outstanding debut season for Grêmio the defender played in over 50 games, establishing himself as one of the most promising prospects in the country, earning an inclusion in the 2013 “Brasileirão Serie A Team of the Year.” In January 2014, Turkish super club Galatasaray paid €6 million to sign the defender to their ranks. During his tenure with Aslanlar, Brazilian featured in 60 games, as Gala captured the Süper Lig, the Turkish Cup, and Turkish Super Cup. After a short loan spell in Italy with Internazionale in 2014/15, Lexi moved to Portugal to sign for FC Porto in 2016. The Estádio do Dragão would provide the platform for the defender to hone his craft on route to becoming one of the world’s finest attacking fullbacks. Lexi featured in 195 games for Porto, scored 26 goals and provided 57 assists. During this time FC Porto were crowned league champions twice, in addition to winning the Taça de Portugal. The defender was rewarded for his individual play with inclusion in both the 2016 and 2017 “SPJF Primeira Liga Team of the Year.” The summer of 2020 saw Lexi close the chapter on his wonderful Portuguese adventure, moving to England to sign for Manchester United.
