Petr Cech is a retired Czech goalkeeper who last played for Arsenal in the English Premier League. He is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers of his generation, along with the likes of Gianluigi Buffon and Iker Casillas. The man from Pilsen started his career at the local Viktoria Plzen but he never actually played for the first team in his senior career. After having played in the Czech Republic for several years he was bought by French club Rennes in 2002. There he really showed his true potential and it didnt take long for Chelsea to take note of his performances. In 2004 he made the move to Chelsea for 7 Million Pound (8.3 Million Euro). At Chelsea he really made a name for himself, he played almost 500 matches for Chelsea and won the Premier League 4 times with that club. He also won the UEFA Champions League in 2012. In the final against FC Bayern Munchen he saved several penalties (both in regular time as well as in a shoot out) and he has later stated that this match and those saves were the 'highlight of his career'. After having played at Chelsea for more than 10 years he made the move to Arsenal in 2015. There he has been a regular starter and an important part of Arsenal's FA Cup win in 2017. He is obviously an international for the Czech Republic too. His most important and best performances were at the UEFA Euro 2004 in Portugal. The Czech Republic reached the semi-finals after having played some spectacular football.
