MaeKen is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Minnesota Twins. On April 11, 1988, he was born in Tadaoka, Osaka, Japan. His childhood was spent in Japan, and unlike many other Japanese children, he enjoyed baseball. There isn't much about his school days, but as a professional, he became well known as soon as he was drafted in the 2006 NPB Draft by the Hiroshima Toyo Carp of Japan out of PL Gakuen Senior High School. He received the Sawamura Award for being the top pitcher in the league in both 2010 and 2015, demonstrating his consistency. The Carp decided to make him available to Major League Baseball teams through the posting system in December 2015. The youngest pitcher in Japanese baseball history to capture the pitching Triple Crown, he was signed by the Dodgers in January 2016. He debuted in the MLB on April 6, 2016. This young Japanese player remained with the LA-based team until the end of 2019. The Dodgers sold MaeKen to the Minnesota Twins on February 10, 2020. The Twins has been his home since then.
