Nick Pope a.k.a Poor Man's Pope is one of the goalkeepers of Burnley. He started his career at the youth academy of Ipswich Town. They did not believe enough in him, and released him from the academy at the age of 16. The very same year he joined the youth side of Bury Town. He never made it to the first team of Bury Town and signed a long-term contract at League One club Charlton Athletic in 2011. He played at Charlton Athletic for in total 5 years, but was sent in the meanwhile on loan to Harrow Borough (15 apps), Welling United (4 apps), Cambridge United (9 apps), Aldershot Town (5 apps), York City (22 apps) and Bury (22 apps). Indeed, this lad saw all the dressing rooms and stadiums of England. In his last year at Charlton he managed to become the regular keeper and in July 2016 he joined the newly promoted Premier League club Burnley, at whom he signed a three-year contract. He made his Premier League debut in September 2017 against Crystal Palace (1-0 win). He was called up for the English national team for the first time in March 2018. He was part of the England squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He made his debut for the Three Lions in June 2018 in England's friendly game against Costa Rica (2-0 win).
