At the age of thirteen literally all the big clubs of Europa had him on the radar. Ajax, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and Juventus offered him a contract, but when Dinamo Zagreb approached him it was an easy choice. For his Bosnian Croat family this was a great opportunity to move back to Croatia. And so he did! After a severe injury in 2009 (broken leg) he recovered and made his debut on 20 November 2010, in the away match versus Hrvatski Dragovoljac (6-0 win). In the next season, 2011-12, he became one of the most important players of the first team. During his period in Zagreb he won the Croatian league twice and two times the Croatian Cup. He was ready for a next step and moved to Inter Milan on 31 January 2013. They signed him in a 15 Million Euro deal. The versatile midfielder became very popular in Milan and the fans were sad to let him go in the summer of 2015. Real Madrid bought him for 29 Million Euro, and the young Croatian midfielder signed a six year deal at the legendary Estadio Bernabeu. He currently plays on loan for Chelsea.
