Born in Rosario, Argentina it was immediately evident that this little man would become one of the greatest to ever do it. He started his career at Newell's Old Boys, the club of his hometown of Rosario. When he was 10 years old doctors discovered a growth hormone deficiency in his body, a condition that basically kept his body from growing in a normal way. Treatment for this condition was very expensive and in the end it was too expensive for the family to give Leo the treatment that he needed. Because the family had some relatives in Catalonia, they decided to go for a trial at FC Barcelona. The club saw him play, immediately offered him a contract (written on a napkin) and also offered to pay for his treatment. The rest, as they say, is history. He went on to become the best player the world has ever seen, breaking record after record and he became a global icon in the process. Some of his personal highlights include winning the FIFA Ballon D'Or 5 times, scoring 73 goals in a single season (2011-2012) and he has also scored the most goals in the history of La Liga. With his team he has one countless league titles, 4 UEFA Champions League's and 3 Club World Championships. The only thing that is lacking from his trophy cabinet is silverware that was won with his national team. With the Argentinian national team he has yet to win a trophy.
