Don't ask us what kind of motor vehicle the Marseille midfield general is riding! Despite being able to afford any automobile out there Gus enjoys rolling the suburbs of Rio in his neon green four wheeler.

Hailing from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Gus got into professional football with native club Fluminense. He made his debut in February 2015, as a second half substitute during a 1-0 defeat to Vasco da Gama. He made 41 appearances in all competitions and was swiftly scouted and signed by Italian Seria A outfit AS Roma for a fee of €15 million. The Brazilian made a slow start to life in Italy but he came more to the fore during his second year at I Giallorossi. The midfielder was loaned out to ACF Fiorentina during the 2018/19 campaign and didn’t let the opportunity slip, playing in all but two Seria A fixtures. A return to Brazil was on the cards for the midfielder in 2019 as he joined Flamengo on a permanent transfer to begin the most successful phase of his career. In the two seasons that followed, Rubro-Negro triumphed in Copa Libertadores, Recopa Sudamericana, Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, Supercopa do Brasil and Campeonato Carioca. In the summer of 2021 Gus signed for Ligue 1 club Marseille for a fee of €25 million.
