She is ethnically black and graduated from Parkway Central High School before going on to study fashion buying and merchandising at the Fashion Institute of Technology. It was a two-year course, and Julie followed that with an undergraduate course in interior design at the New York School of Interior Design. The lady then earned an MFA in Furniture Design from the Rhode Island School of Design.
